Medical Eye Care
at the Eye Institute of Southern Arizona
We screen, diagnose, and manage patients with diabetes, glaucoma,
and macular degeneration. In addition, we work closely
with primary care doctors for patients who have other medical conditions
with eye manifestations, like hypertension, thyroid disease, and
arthritis. Our cornea specialists also manage patients with dry
eye, corneal infections, corneal scars, and inherited
corneal problems like Fuch’s Dystrophy. When necessary,
we work closely with highly regarded local experts in the areas
of retina and glaucoma. |
|
The most common surgery we perform is cataract
surgery. Our fellowship trained surgeons are highly skilled and utilize
state-of-the-art technology, Infiniti®
System with torsional power for cataract surgery.
We are also pleased to offer the latest in lens power calculation with
the IOL
Master, which offers unparalleled
accuracy to prevent over or under corrections.
 |
Our patients also benefit from the latest in
lens implant technology, including Multi-focal and Accommodative lens
implants, if they are motivated to reduce their reliance on glasses
following cataract surgery. Some patients may also be candidates
for limbal relaxing incisions, a technique used in conjunction
with cataract surgery to further reduce the need for glasses post-operatively. |
In addition, Dr. Goldman has advanced training in the latest methods
of corneal transplantation, offering partial thickness corneal transplantation
(also known as Endothehlial Keratoplasty) for patients with corneal
decompensation or Fuch’s Dystrophy. |
